Some folks have asked what the relationship is between BeakGeek and the Gulf Oil Spill. It was probably a matter of timing to some degree. I had just updated the site at beakgeek.org and news about how bad the spill was going to be was trickling in. Add to that the potential impacts to birds and wildlife and it made sense to see if we could help out by aggregating the news, info and resources that were being passed around Twitter and other places.

The Gulf Oil Spill Response Channel is now up over 200 items since 28 April 2010, and I am sure it will continue to grow. We are trying to keep the Channel apolitical and focused on the response. We will let others engage in the needed debate about energy policy and culpability for this disaster.
